4 photographs from a family-album became the starting point of IN TRANSIT. 4 fragments of an elderly lady’s life story, who, as an adolescent girl, emigrated from the steep hills of Central Switzerland to South America with her family. 45 years later she returned to her village – but ‚home‘ turned out to be a world that remains strange to her to the present day. I met that lady in the course of an artist residence, when I lived and worked in the Swiss Alps for three months. Day-to-day – by foot, train and bus -, I roamed that remote, mountainous region, which is increasingly torn between traditional lifestyle and structural transformation. A visual involvement of a traveler with a changing – a ‚traveling‘ – region and its inhabitants.
