In 2005 I lived and worked in a shelter for street children in San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras, for 4 months.  The project, which was enabled by a scholarship of the Flemish Interuniversity Council, was an attempt to combine artistic and social interests.  The contradicting aspect of how a stranger sees the kids and their environment opposed to how they see themselves in their community was a main influence during the stay abroad as well as for putting together the exhibition and the making of a small publication (please contact me for more infos).
The 36 boys between the age of 5 and 18 each were given disposable cameras – neither knowing the concept nor the technique of photography.  The results, in combination with my work, form the visual content of this project.
