Florian Schwarz (b. Konstanz, Germany, 1979) studied Photography (2003-2007, MFA) at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Belgium, and Documentary Filmmaking (2011-2012, MA) at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Central to his artistic practice is the human condition; Schwarz‘ photographic and multimedial projects often deal with lifeworlds on the margins of society.
His monographic publication A Handful of Dust (published by KERBER) was awarded the ‚German Photobook Award in Silver 2019/20‘. His works have been exhibited and screeend internationally (including National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh; Goethe-Institut Madrid; Noorderlicht Photofestival, Groningen; Photo España, Madrid; Backlight Photography Festival, Tampere; Berlin Month of Photography; Morat-Institut, Freiburg; Zepplin Museum, Friedrichshafen; Kunstmuseum Singen). Florian Schwarz lives and works at Lake Constance in Southern Germany.
